10-29-24 Moura to Sines

Departure

Well, it’s really something what a good night sleep can do for a tired body.  I woke up in the AM feeling much better.  I do need to mention that I slept for about 11 hours, so that amount of sleep undoubtedly really helped.

I wasn’t sure that I had recovered, but I felt pretty good, and so, off we went to Sines.

The ride

We got a late start, leaving at about 10 AM, we headed off towards Sines, without the benefit of breakfast.  Once again, the roads were fantastic, and the ride was a real pleasure.  The ride to Sines would require only 133 miles of riding, but along the way, we were expecting to stop at an architectural dig site but somehow, the GPS seemed to get it wrong.  We ended up traveling up some dirt tracks, and after only .5 miles or so, the track ended, without ever giving up the visitor’s center.

We continued to Sines, and arrived at the Dom Vasco hotel

The hotel

The Dom Vasco hotel was really wonderful.  The rooms were clean, and serviceable, and the staff was a pleasure.  The hotel staff allowed us to park the bike in front of the hotel, so we didn’t have any concerns about the bike getting stolen.

The Chinese store

After we arrived in Moura, we realized that I had left the A/C socket adapters at the hotel in Malaga.  We spoke to the front desk, and they suggested that we visit “the Chinese Store”.  I can certainly imagine what a Chinese store might be like, but I had no idea where this place was, or what to really expect.

We entered the store, and as expected, they had a whole lot of stuff for sale. We rummaged around and managed to find an adapter that would allow us to plug in 2 USB devices, into an A/C wall outlet. This wasn’t exactly what we wanted, but for the 4 day trip across Portugal and Spain, it was good enough.

A Report from the Road

What will tomorrow bring

We’ve arrived at Sinnes, and tomorrow, we’ll head to Moura, a larger city in Portugal where we expect to enjoy a stay in a larger, more business-oriented hotel.
