The weather Map
We’ve looked at the weather map for today, and so far, the weather looks good, but who knows… We’re now able to remove the rain layer of gear and be prepared for some hotter temperatures.
Roman Ruins
The ruins at Volubilis
The ruins at Volubilis are over 2300 years old and are still in good to excellent structural condition. I love history, and Roman history is some of the most extraordinary history known to man. These ruins demonstrate cultivation of olive trees, water management, and there is even a phallic symbol, depicting a whore house was in operation during this period. You can read more about the ruins at the link below, but before that, you’ll get a chance to listen to our guide talk about the ruins and their history.

We crested the hill at the top of the driveway and found parking spaces for our bikes. It was a hot day, and we were expected to quite a bit of walking, so I opted to take off my boots and wear my sneakers. This approach worked pretty well, but it was clear that my pants would keep falling down on me unless I did something about it.
After arriving at the ruins, and getting our tickets, our IMT guides arranged for another guide to take us through the ruins.
Lunch
With a few days behind us, we’re beginning to see some patterns related to the kind of food that some of us eat. While some are adventurous and will try things that are varied, others will choose to go with the more traditional items, which mostly resemble American food.
Report from the Road
Hotel arrival
Tonight, we would stay at the Hotel Les Merindes in Fes.
Dinner
After arriving at the hotel, we learned that the hotel wanted to treat us specially, and so they setup tables in the “Kings area”, which is on the 3rd floor of the hotel, and which serves dignitaries and heads of state. Our dinner was amazing.
What will tomorrow bring
Tomorrow we’ll visit the King’s palace, and the Medina in fes. It’s my understanding that this is the largest Medina in the world, with over 11,000 streets and alleys. Yikes, better bring a map…
