New subscription feature added
I recently added a new career to my LinkedIn profile to illustrate my passion for motorcycles. In addition to accomplishing that simple objective, it also triggered responses from many old friends who asked about this new passion, and the upcoming adventure. A few of those folks mentioned that they were interested in watching my progress across Patagonia during the upcoming trip, so I thought I would add some new features to this blog to make things a bit easier for everyone to follow my progress across the 2500 miles from Santiago, Chile to Ushuaia, Argentina.
How to subscribe
I’ve allowed you to subscribe to newsletters directly from the sidebar, which is present on all pages. Simply enter your name, and email address, and you’ll receive the newsletters as they are sent. I plan on sending out frequent updates, in each of which will be a link to my blog post, and perhaps some video that I’ve taken during the day’s riding.
Personal preferences, security, and privacy
As all of you know, I’m in the IT business, so I’m very conscious of ensuring that it is easy for you to opt in and opt out of my little adventure. So, with each email you receive, you’ll be able to modify your subscription preferences, or remove your name all-together.
About the plug-in that enables subscriptions
Now, this blog is built on WordPress, and this additional functionality comes via a pretty awesome plug-in, but this plug-in is free, and while sometimes you can find a diamond in the ruff with these plug-ins, sometimes they are quite problematic. This plug-in looks to be very well written, and it has great functionality, but we’ll need to sit back and see….
An alternate method – RSS
In addition to receiving the newsletters, you can always subscribe to the RSS feed which is also visible in the right hand sidebar.
Hi Cliff,
I guess this is what you can do when you have children very early in your life. 🙂
What a grand adventure you will have. Truly something that will enrich your life. Stay safe on the road (and the dirt).
